Your Vote

Overview

Your Vote is an app that would assist voters in filling out their ballots for midterm elections, and promote conversation between voters about the elections. I conceptualized the app layout and worked on the functionality of the app.

Background

Your Vote is an app that would assist voters in filling out their ballots for midterm elections, and create a space where voters can have conversations about the elections.  The target audience for that project was meant to be members of the community between the ages of 20 and 55 years old. This demographic consists of users that either haven’t voted in midterm elections before or who are not as motivated to participate.

The primary call to action for the user was to sign into the app and use the ‘Help with Ballot’ tool, the secondary call to action was to invite users to make posts about the election and connect with others on the app.

Process

Research

During the research process I had two personas in mind based on my target demographic. One was named Lawrence and the other was Veronica. Veronica is a full time student who doesn't know much about politics, but she is recently interested after the recent 2020 elections. Her main goal is that she wants to make the right decision for the upcoming election and wants accurate information. Lawrence is a father who is recently retired and spends most of his time at home now. He has lived in the same community for the last 20 years, but hasn’t voted in many of the midterm elections.  His main goal is to connect on a new app that he trusts to provide information about the local and state elections.

For the comparative research I looked at other apps that are meant to help voters, but I found that most did not actually help voters to make decisions based on their unique political views.
