Community Garden Website

Overview

The Brentwood Community Garden website aims to promote connection within the community, provide fresh produce, promote healthy life choices, and beautify the town. I designed the website for both desktop and mobile settings where the objective was to make a more engaging experience for users .

Role

  • Role: Designer
  • Platform: Desktop and Mobile
  • Timeline: 6 weeks

Background

UI/UX Design class project where the subject for the information website was a community garden in Brentwood, CA.  The target audience for that project was meant to be members of the community between the ages of 30 and 65 years old. This demographic are family oriented people who have lived in the community for a majority of their lives, and oftentimes pick fruit during the harvest seasons.

The primary call to action for the user was to sign up and become a volunteer for the community garden, the secondary call to action was to sign up for a newsletter that would inform them of future events.

Process

Research

During the research process I had a persona in mind based on my target demographic, who I named Jane. Jane is a mother of two and married to a teacher at a local school in Brentwood. Her main goal was to go to more community events to spend quality time with her family, socialize with others in the community, and contribute time to her community. For the comparative research I looked at the websites from other community gardens in the Bay Area. The sites I found to be most helpful and inspiring had more modern and concise design systems and patterns.
